What Does "Independent Contractor" Mean?
An independent contractor is a self-employed individual who provides services to a company under a contract or agreement. Instead of being managed like an employee, you work for yourself and support clients on a temporary, project-based basis—like customer service programs offered through the Arise® Platform.
Key Features of Independent Contracting with MQT Solutions:
Flexibility: Choose the client program and schedule that fits your life.
Freedom: You're your own boss—work from home, on your time.
No hourly minimums required (unless specified by a client).
Temporary agreements (SOWs): Work is offered in 30–90 day intervals and may be renewed based on performance and client needs.
Tax Responsibility: You're responsible for handling your own taxes, since no W-2 is issued. You’ll receive a 1099 for tax filing.
What You Are Not (as an Independent Contractor):
You are not an employee of MQT Solutions or Arise.
You don’t receive benefits like health insurance or paid time off.
You are not paid a fixed hourly wage — your earnings are based on the time you service and the client program’s pay structure.
